Responsibility:

Establishing a strong community of engineers:

  • Clearly explain the community career lattice to team members to build understanding.
  • Demonstrate appreciation for diversity and inclusion during professional interactions.
  • Note any observable deviations from diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Recommend new talent for hiring when opportunities arise.
  • Promote the community brand image through professional interactions.
  • Report any deviations from people practices that conflict with organizational values.
  • Conduct people management processes fairly, transparently, and diligently.

Delivering superior engineering outcomes:

  • Understand how your own competencies and proficiencies align with your role’s responsibilities.
  • Ask for performance feedback and use it to identify gaps between your proficiencies and what your role requires.
  • Notify your manager of any concerns regarding your ability to fulfill your role’s responsibilities.
  • Help team members articulate project goals, provide guidance and supervision to complete assigned tasks.
  • Actively respond to requests for help and assistance.
  • Proactively engage with team members to understand their challenges and direct them to helpful resources within the community.
  • When taking on engineering responsibilities, make realistic commitments that you can fulfill.
  • Identify any dependencies, risks, and bottlenecks that could affect meeting your commitments.
  • Understand the relevant metrics for benchmarking different activities, how those metrics impact customer business outcomes, and how they are tracked in Cognizant’s systems.

Fostering strong competency:

  • Clearly understand the enablement goals and be able to explain them to team members.
  • Identify the enablement needs of the team.
  • Set up strategies and processes for driving the identification and closure of competency gaps at a community level.
  • Drive best practices for eliciting competency proficiency gaps.

Operating efficiently:

  • Keep the skill profile and resume up to date.
  • Manage a panel of interviewers from your team, ensuring nominations are evenly distributed and respect individual availability.
  • Prepare a knowledge base to provide engagement-related onboarding for new engineering hires.
  • Resolve any conflicts transparently and fairly during performance reviews.
  • Coach your teams to update skill profiles promptly, informing managers of newly acquired skills and proficiencies.
  • Contribute to the talent profiling framework and benchmarks for various roles and responsibilities.
  • Discuss competency gaps with associates and necessary steps to address those gaps.

Building Engineering Mindshare:

  • Identify opportunities to create reusable content assets.
  • Help develop reusable content assets such as templates, frameworks, and guidelines.
  • Contribute to white papers under guidance, conducting research and drafting sections.
  • Contribute to experience papers under guidance, outlining customer stories and journeys.
  • Contribute to case studies under guidance, highlighting solutions and results for clients.
